Maya King of Palenque (historical figure)

K'inich Janaab' Pakal I (603-683 CE) was the longest-reigning Maya king of Palenque (615-683 CE), known as Pacal the Great, restoring power after defeats and overseeing major constructions. His mother, Lady Sak K'uk', served as regent (612-615 CE) before his reign. Pakal's reign is commemorated on tablets in the Temple of the Inscriptions, and his name interpretation with "Janaab'" remains debated.
