Carl M. Allen, also known as Carlos Miguel Allende, was a merchant mariner and the originator of the Philadelphia Experiment mythology. He is primarily known for writing a series of letters to Morris K. Jessup in 1955-1956 detailing his alleged involvement in the Philadelphia Experiment. Allen's claims were widely regarded as a hoax, and he is known to have confessed to and recanted his story multiple times.
